New Patient Information
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR YOUR FIRST VISIT:

  • Your first appointment will last from 1-1.5 hours. All follow up visits last 45min-1 hour.  ALWAYS TELL ME IF YOU NEED TO LEAVE THE OFFICE AT A PARTICULAR TIME, and I'll make sure you do.

  • Make sure to wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing to your appointment or bring a change of clothes with you. If I can't reach the areas I need to get to through the clothing you came with, I can provide you with a clean medical gown to change into- attractive? No. Effective? Yes.

  • Adjunct therapies such as Cupping, Gua-Sha (pronounced "gwah- shah"), Electrical Stimulation, Tui-Na/Shiatsu Massage and Infrared Heat Therapy may be included in your treatment, as deemed necessary, in addition to acupuncture therapy.  Check out the Services page for more info about these treatments.
  • Please use the restroom when you arrive at the office- before your appointments begin. Yeah- even if you don't think you have to. Acupuncture treatments can stimulate your kidneys and bladder to do their job faster and you definitely don't want to suddenly need to GO after all the needles are in place.

  • Don't drink caffeinated beverages (coffee, tea, energy drinks, etc) or take any pain medications for at least 3 hours prior to your visits.

  • Don't arrive for your treatment overly-hungry or overly-full.  Doing so could result in dizziness or nausea during treatment.

  • Before your appointment, don't eat or drink anything that changes the color of your tongue and don't brush your tongue the morning of your appointments- this interferes with certain diagnostic methods.

  • After your treatments, you're going to want to RELAX as much as possible.  It's important to give your body a chance to fully-integrate the treatment so don't plan on going to they gym or doing any kind of strenuous exercise when you leave the office.  Best case scenario, try to arrange the treatments for when you'll have at least a few hours to go home and chill.
  • Don't eat heavy/greasy meals, use drugs of any kind or drink alcohol for at least 6 hours after your acupuncture treatments.

INSURANCE AND PAYMENT POLICY

I do not file insurance claims for acupuncture services provided. This allows me to focus my time and attention on providing you with the absolute highest quality of care, professional service and an above-and-beyond level of health care and support. Payment in full for services rendered is due at the time of service.  I gladly accept cash, check and all major credit cards.  In most cases, this includes Flexible Spending Account cards as well.

Fortunately, there are a growing number of Insurance companies that do provide Acupuncture coverage, although coverage varies widely between carriers as well as individual insurance plans. Check with your plan provider to find out if you have Acupuncture coverage (be sure to specify "for out-of-network Acupuncturists."For those of you with Acupuncture insurance, payment in full is collected at the time of service, and I will be happy to provide you a "Super-bill" complete with all required medical coding information so that you can easily file your claim for reimbursement.

Please be aware that I am an "out-of-network" provider and most insurance plans do not cover 100% of out-of-network treatment fees.
I cannot guarantee reimbursement by your insurance company and you are ultimately responsible for deductible amounts, co-pays, and any portion of your balance that is not covered, should your insurance company deny any portion of your claim.
